She oversees the continuum of care—from initial referrals through surgery and recovery—with precision, empathy, and a steadfast commitment to excellence.
Ellen’s leadership ensures that every patient receives the highest standard of care while feeling personally supported and understood throughout their experience.
Background & Expertise
Ellen has been a registered nurse for over 37 years, serving in diverse clinical environments including intensive care, surgical, orthopedic, pain management, and ambulatory settings. Her broad clinical background allows her to approach patient care with confidence and adaptability. After briefly retiring, Ellen joined Clarus Surgery at the invitation of Dr. Porterfield—drawn by the opportunity to combine her lifelong passion for nursing with a practice that reflects her values of compassion and connection.

Beyond the Practice
Outside of work, Ellen enjoys long walks with her husband and dog, reading historical mysteries, and visiting her two adult daughters who live out of state. She is guided by her favorite reminder, “This too shall pass,” which inspires her to find balance, gratitude, and perspective in all aspects of life.
