Dr. John G. Touliatos, MD, FACS, is a board-certified Minimally Invasive General and Bariatric Surgeon at Clarus Surgery, providing comprehensive surgical care for patients with a wide range of general, foregut, and bariatric conditions. He specializes in advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques designed to reduce discomfort, shorten recovery times, and help patients return to their daily lives with confidence.
With more than 20 years of surgical experience, Dr. Touliatos combines technical expertise with a compassionate, patient-centered approach, developing individualized treatment plans while utilizing the latest advancements in surgery to deliver exceptional outcomes.
Background & Expertise
Dr. Touliatos earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Samford University before receiving his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Baptist Health System in Birmingham, Alabama, followed by fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery. Board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), he has more than 20 years of experience specializing in minimally invasive, robotic, bariatric, and general surgery. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to advancing surgical care through continued education, research, leadership, and the adoption of innovative techniques that improve patient outcomes.

Beyond the Practice
Outside of surgery, Dr. Touliatos enjoys spending time with family and friends and staying active on his farm. He is also passionate about mission work, working with the Maasai Tribe in Africa to help dig wells and share the Gospel with various tribes. He values opportunities to continue learning, mentor others, and maintain a healthy balance between his professional and personal life.
